I can’t stop listening to this song.

At the risk of overhyping and being the 50th person to tell you this, Drive is really great and you should go see it. I also love this song from the soundtrack.

Everybody that has seen Drive is obsessed with this song, right?  I know the first thing I did when I got home from the movie last Friday was download it, as well as a ton of other Kavinsky music. (another reason why Spotify is great!)

We don’t know who made this, but here’s an 8-bit version of When “You’re” Around!  Awesome!

I think this might be my all time favorite Mansions photo. Christopher and me taken by (the lovely) Melissa Kraemer at our show with Fences in Minneapolis.

Big Talker by These Modern Socks

Yeah Yeah Yeah, So maybe I’ve been gone forever. Maybe I’ve been slacking a whole lot. I could’ve been dead, you don’t know that….

Actually, I was in California, and couldn’t be bothered with computers and blogs that no one reads. I also couldn’t be bothered with combing my hair, but thats a whole other story.

I did build up a lot of wonderful songs to share with you guys while I was away though, and this one definitely takes the cheesecake: “Big Talker” by These Modern Socks.

These Modern Socks is actually a local band that I got in to in 2007, and somehow haven’t seen live yet. They are more elusive than my pet rabbit, Baxter, when its time clip his nails (I never know where he goes with that cute little cottontail).

They seem to have only a couple shows a year—and they are usually way past my bedtime of 8:45pm. I’ve promised myself that the next time they have one, I’m going to act my age and actually go. Or at least say I’m going to and fall asleep while eating dried prunes on the way to the venue…

WHAT isn’t wonderful about this song? These Modern Sock’s first self titled album is extremely solid—but this is my absolute favorite. The multiple timing changes blow my mind, and any excuse to sing “Fuck You!” with such confidence is welcome in my book. This band is just so unique that you almost wonder if they have snowflakes in their damn DNA. Needless to say, this is the number 2 most played song on my Itunes—but the number 1 most played in my heart, which is where I keep my ears.

You’re a big talker, you always elaborate—
So maybe I should give it a try.
Get my eraser, that’s a “Fuck You.” I don’t have to write.

My Favorite Accident by Motion City Soundtrack

I must confess something: I have been listening to nothing but Motion City Soundtrack and the footsteps of the obese Russians living above me for the past week. Why do you ask? I figure that they can’t step gingerly because of the fact that they are so rotund…and I will be flying out to L.A. at 4 am this morning in preparation for the most wonderful 2 day concert in which Motion City will play their entire discography. Drooool. Goodbye, Russians!

I have been following these guys since Junior High—back when I had fake dread locks and wore suspenders. Boy the boys really liked me then.

My Favorite Accident is my favorite off of their first full length “I Am the Movie”. The fact that I can still relate—and still fist pump when Justin yells “SKIN SKIN!” makes me so very happy. The lyrics depict love found and lost—rather quickly—and only in the fast paced, blunt, and fun way that these boys can do it.  Enjoy!

Long winded promises of future company
Up close the sound remains the same
Without the reign of terror over every momentary change
We are exactly as before.

We Get On by Kate Nash

Now, if you don’t me know me, there are two very important things that make up my DNA

-My fear of the British (one if by land two if by sea).

-My fear of Gingers (not even sorry about this one-you guys are just scary)

Kate Nash is both of these things. I find Kate Nash to be one of the most wonderful things to be put on this earth, next to Chocolate Snack Paks and the fact that videos of puppies doing cute things are so readily available via the internet. She’s really up there, guys.

Today I am obsessed with “We Get On”, off of her album Made of Bricks. With its parlor-like piano and British adorability (maybe I’m being converted…) you can’t help but melt a little when you hear this little ditty. The lyrics depict the classic story of “Girl meets Guys, Girl obsesses over Guy, Guy knows nothing about it, Guy dates another girl, Girl goes a little crazy (in a cute Kate Nash sort of way)”.  If you haven’t been in this situation before, I am going to deem you a robot out to destroy the earth and all of its inhabitants.

Saturday night, I watch Channel 5
I particularly like CSI
I don’t ever dream about you and me
I don’t ever make up stuff about us
that would be considered insanity

First Post

Hello Fellows (and I suppose Ladies too),

Welcome to my first post on this here tumblr. Where the “e” went, I don’t know. I’m trying not to be concerned about it. But I am a worrier by nature…

This bloggity blog will be dedicated to dedicating song dedications to myself…and you guys…to listen to. DAILY. If there isn’t music playing on my computer/ipod/8-track, you better bet that it is playing in my head. OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND…you get the point. I will be posting the song that haunts my living nightmares (in the best of ways) and giving everyone a chance to check it out. You’ve been warned :)
